<p>The press plate is for use in a press forming shaped blocks partic. of concrete, and has a peripheral face at right angles to the plate face. It is formed by one or more layers of rolled steel strip (1), while the peripheral surface (3) comprises a precision stamping cutting edge. It can be of high-grade or cemented steel, e.g. C45 or C15, while the peripheral area is induction-hardened, carbonised or cemented. The edge can be bent at an obtuse angle, typically including one of 30 deg. with the plane formed by the remainder of the plate. The plate can be of solid metal, e.g. 10mm thick, or comprise a number of similar plates riveted together.</p> |
