<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently perform copying operation by providing a means for setting plural document placing reference positions, and classifying the reference positions according to whether or not an automatic document feeder is used. CONSTITUTION:In a pressure plate mode in which an automatic document feeding means is not used, the document placing reference position is provided on the operational side of a copying machine 200, that is, on this side of an operator; and an exposure optical system 300 is caused to scan the operational side of the copying machine 200 back and forth. In an automatic document feeding mode, the document placing reference position is provided opposite to the operational side, and a document is fed from the document feeding side of the automatic document feeder, that is, from the position near the turning start side of the automatic document feeder. Because placing positions are classified according to mode in that way, the operator handles the copying machine on this side of the copying machine 200 close to him in a pressure mode, and copying can be effectively performed under shortest document supplying distance conditions in the automatic document feeding mode.</p> |
