PURPOSE:To automatically select an optimum speed change stage suitable to the driving intention of a driver to provide a comfortable feeling of acceleration, avoid shift hunting and frequent brake operation, and facilitate the driving operation in the running frequently requiring gear shift as going a downslope between mountains. CONSTITUTION:It is judged whether a vehicle decends a downslope or not, and as the speed change stage of an automatic transmission at the time of descending, a speed change stage suitable to the intention of vehicle acceleration of a driver is set according to at least accelerator operating amount and accelerator operating speed. |
