Temp. probe for cooling drum for moulding sand mounted within the drum - giving accurate temp. measurement and controlled feed rate of cooling water to drum

The temp. of the moulding sand in the mixing, cooling and drying drum of a foundry is measured by means of a temp. probe mounted inside the drum is such a manner that the sensing element is always in contact with the same in the drum. The signal transmitted by the temp. probe is then used to regulate the feed rate of the cooling water to the drum. In order to avoid mechanical damage of the sensor due to the impact of the tumbling castings against the element, the probe is mounted on a flexible connector which is attached to a rigid support held stationary inside the drum.
