Methane-containing hydrocarbon gas (1) is reacted catalytically and autothermally with oxygen (4) and steam (2) in a reforming reactor (3) at temperatures at the reactor outlet from 800 to 1300 DEG C and a pressure from 10 to 100 bar, a hydrogen-rich gas (5) containing free hydrogen being additionally injected into the reforming reactor. From the reforming reactor a crude synthesis gas (7) is drawn, whose components are primarily hydrogen, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. Without carbon dioxide being removed from the crude synthesis gas, a synthesis gas suitable for methanol synthesis is generated, in which gas the concentrations of the components H2, CO and CO2 produce a molar ratio (H2 - CO2 : CO + CO2), called the stoichiometry number, from 1.97 to 2.2. If required, the crude synthesis gas coming from the reforming reactor may be admixed with hydrogen (8) in order to set the stoichiometry number. <IMAGE> |
