The device has a spool carrier which drives the spool receiver through a friction contact, a capstan and an arresting element working with a service unit to select the mode of working. A driven control cam with an eccentric curved surface and also a turn detecting element in friction contact with the spool receiver and a movable release element. The cam sets the mode of working. There is a swinging pendulum element or lever and this makes contact at one end with the curved surface mentioned in order to actuate the release mechanism. Another movement of the curved surface of the cam operates the arresting movement.
