PURPOSE:To enhance the cycle characteristic by constituting from a stereophonic current collector and a zinc active substance layer retained thereby, and providing a specific void share. CONSTITUTION:A stereophonically shaped current collector made of lath plate, foamed metal, wire meshing, etc., is filled with paste consisting of zinc active substance and a binder, wherein pressurization is made until the void share becomes 35-45%. The thickness of this current collector shall preferably be 40-80% of the thickness of a Zn electrode. For instance, water is added to mixture powder consisting of 35wt.% Zn powder and 60wt.% Zn powder as the Zn active substance and 5wt.% fluoric resin powder as binder, followed by kneading to turn into paste, which is applied to the two surfaces of the current collector of lath plate of Ni to provide a Zn active substance layer, and pressure is applied thereto to accomplish a Zn electrode having a void share of 35%. Use of the Zn electrode thus obtained will enhance the cycle life of an alkaline storage battery. |
