The installation movement starts from a stack of plates inserted into a store of a supply table and uses a presser fitted with grips and moved to and fro through a crank and connecting rod system driven from a shaft which turns to and fro in phase with the main drive of the processing machine. At each cycle, the lowest plate in the stack is removed and subsequently inserted between adjustable stops in the direction of the drive rollers. A device located on the front part of the supply table is fitted with endless belts (13) the upper effective turn of which moves across a suction box subject to a permanent vacuum. The drive shaft (15) for the belts (13) is driven by the drive shaft (1) of the presser (2) through a gearing (20-22) which includes freewheel. This ensures that the belts are driven during the forward stroke of the presser being moved in a straight line by the same distance and in the same direction but remain steady during the return stroke of the presser.
