The remote-controlled bolt(11) may be used for a mass transit vehicle door, and includes a pyrotechnic actuating charge(30) which is ignited electronically (22). The bolt(11) projects into a staple(36) to lock the door and is an axial extension of a piston-rod(12). The piston(23) is located in a recessed cylindrical housing. The piston(23) subdivides the cylinder into two chambers(30, 40) with the aft chamber(30) containing the agent and the fore chamber providing for piston(23) advance. The fore chamber(40) may contain a fluid which is dispersed through a hole(54) with a pressure-sensitive plug(62). A toothed washer(14) may engage a piston shoulder(13) to form a non-return mechanism.
