<p>Gel for application to the skin as a conducting agent in ultrasonic diagnoses, such as ultrasonography or for therapeutic purposes in ultrasonotherapy, contains glycerine, water a high mol. wt. carboxyvinyl polymer, a neutralising agent and opt. a preservative. The glycerine and the carboxyvinyl polymer respectively comprise 20-60%, and 0.5-0.9% by wt. of the total glycerine-water content. The compsn. show less tendency to flow and drip in use than conventional ultrasonic gels. The ratio glycerine: water is pref. 1:1. The neutralisation agent pref. adjusts the pH to 5-8, esp. 7.3. A pref. neutralising agent is triethanolamine.</p> |
