Moulds are prepd. for receiving a substance which solidifies in the mould cavity and possibly in the channels. leading into the cavity. The preparation involves flushing the cavity and the channels with a gas prior to and during the introduction of the substance. The preparation enables metal objects particularly to be cast without absorption of contaiminants and surface faults resulting from such contamination.
