the link chain is for haulage, lifting or anti-skid use on tyres. One or more strands of chain have a fixing device, eg a suspension eye at the end. A shortening link has an opening through which the chain is pulled and a locking recess for one of the links. There are two or more locking recesses (2) in the shortening link which can be evenly spaced in it(1). Each recess can comprise two slots, inclined to each other, pref. at right angles, and radi-used where they join. The first slots can be formed with the pull-through opening in a base-plate, and the second ones in a base-plate edge. The centre lines of the locking recesses pass through the axis of the pull-through opening.
