PURPOSE:To decompose or adsorption remove almost completely smelly gas in the air by mixing the smelly gas with ozone, decomposing the same in the presence of a catalyst, and then adsorption-removing an undecomposed smelly component by means of an active carbon layer provided on the downstream side of the catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Smelly gas is mixed with ozone generated by an ozone generator 5 in an ozone and smelly component mixing chamber 6 and decomposed in the presence of a catalyst 7. Then, an undecomposed smelly component is adsorption-removed by means of an active carbon layer 12 provided on the downstream side of the catalyst 7. As a result, the smelly gas in the air is almost completely decomposed or adsorption-removed. The adsorption removal of smelly component by means of the active carbon layer is limited to the component which could not been treated by the ozone catalyst process, and said active carbon layer retains adsorption performance for a long period of time to reduce the maintenance jobs such as replacement and regeneration. |
