<p>Prepn. of a vaccine against 'egg drop disease' uses a new virus, EDS 76, and antigenically related viruses showing an overlapping reaction in haemagglutination inhibition and neutralisation tests. The vaccine may be in inactivated live attenuateD, or live non-attenuated form.Attenuation is pref. by several passages on avian tissue cultures.Inactivation may be by treatment with an enzyme and/or organic solvent. Dose of live vacine is pref. 103-108 (105-106) ufp. per bird.; inactivated vaccine is used at is not 102 HA units per bird, pref. 4x102 units.EDS 76 has been deposited at the Central Veterinary Laboratory, New Haw, Weybridge (number VLO 10110/AV1) and at the Pasteur Institute</p> |
