The washing implement for personal body-care comprises an elongate washing rod (2) having a detachable handle (1) connected to it. The rod has a protective cover (3a) which, by being opened up at one end of the rod, can be converted for exposing the rod and at the same time forming a protection adapted completely or in part to cover the hand (4) grasping the handle for holding the implement when in use. Pref. the protective cover closes the portion of the rod to be connected to the handle and is opened to open a water supply passage (2b) in the rod on attaching the handle.
