<p>The multi-annulus exhaust gas heat exchanger with all-round air cooling is basically as in 27 18 944. To provide substantially all-round cooling for the gas passages (14) between the central (4) and intermediate (2) tubes, the former - with straight-through air flow - has been fitted with deep hollow axial fins (16) and the latter, produced by extrusion, embodies axial ducts (22) through which air also flows. These ducts lie between the internal ribs (15) locating the outermost tube (5) - both in this example of ceramic material - and thus also cool gas flowing along the passages (11) between intermediate and outer tubes, on its way to the inner ones (14).</p> |
