Ribbon reversal unit for typewriter - uses sprung roller lever to minimise tension in ribbon and needing only one direction of motor rotation

Each gear wheel (7, 9) of the ribbon reversal system has a control lever (19, 20) associated with it which is swivelled by the ink ribbon (17) against the face of the particular wheel. A spring-loaded roller lever (24) is associated with one (19) of these levers. Both levers are rigidly coupled together and have projections (26, 33) removable from against the gear wheels when the levers are in the rest position. This enables the ribbon to be reversed using the minimum ribbon tension and only one direction of rotation of the motor.
