In the case of a machine tool having a motor spindle comprising a main motor which is integrated into an operating spindle that is coaxial with respect to the spindle axis and, for its part, has a rotor and a stator, and having a cooling device which supplies a gaseous cooling medium to cooling surfaces of the main motor, in order to improve the said machine tool such that simple and effective cooling of the main motors of the motor spindles is possible it is proposed that the stator be constructed from stator plates which themselves form cooling surfaces and that the gaseous cooling medium be supplied directly along the cooling surfaces of the stator plates.
