<p>Novel compounds represented by the following general formula I (I) wherein R is hydrogen or t-butyl, with the proviso that the hydroxyl group is in the ortho position with respect to R and at least one t-butyl group is present in the ortho position with respect to the hydroxyl group, are provided. They are effective in combatting larval forms of mosquitoes.</p>
