<p>PURPOSE:To compress image information by deciding a quantization table without considering contents of a compression parameter by an operator by compressing the inputted image information based on the selected quantization table. CONSTITUTION:Under the display control of a display control part 3, original image data recorded in an original image data memory 2 are read from the memory 2 and displayed on a display 4. The operator evaluates the original image data displayed on the display 4 and instructs the range of compression evaluation or compressibility from an instruction input part 7. When the instruction of preparing only the designated number of basic quantization tables is given to a quantization table generation part 8 from a CPU 13, a quantization table selecting arithmetic circuit selects the required quantization tables from a previously prepared basic quantization table recording area and successively sets them to a compression part 5 and an expansion part 6. The compression part 5 compresses the original image data in the memory 2 by using the quantization tables set by the generation part 8.</p> |
