The invention relates to an animal feed having drinkable and chewable consistency. To a base substance conventional for animal feed an additional portion is added which is a mixture of one or more collagen hydrolysates and oligofructoses. In the additional portion, the content of collagen hydrolysates is in the range from 30 to 95% by weight or 75 to 95% by weight and the content of oligofructoses is in the range from 70 to 5% by weight or 25 to 5% by weight respectively. The collagen hydrolysates are highly purified, neutral-flavour hydrolysed proteins from connective tissue. The oligofructose molecules are composed of two or more, preferably at most nine, fructose molecule units which are beta (1-2) linked, the terminal molecule unit being a fructose or glucose molecule unit.
