Process for working up proteins produced by fermentation using alcohols as carbon source

In the working up of proteins produced by fermentation using alcohols as carbon source it is possible to save energy when the alcohol used for the fermentation is previously used for dewatering the concentrated biomass. This process is further developed by returning the air which is used to dry the biomass in a drier to the fermenter. This results in both the oxygen in this air and the alcohol still present therein and odorous substances being returned to the fermenter. Besides further utilization of air and alcohol, environmental pollution by drier gases is avoided.
