The combustion chamber (1) of the incinerating furnace has its bottom (5) and its walls (3) perforated for insufflation of hot combustion air into the lower layers of waste (14). The air for the combustion of the upper layer of waste is guided through the perforated base of a plate (8) which is positioned in the upper part of the chamber (1) and is vertically movable in relation to the latter. The combustion gases passing between the edge of the plate (8) and the walls of the chamber (1) are oxidised by a second flow of air, insufflated via radial nozzles (17, 17') before passing, through a cooling and collection chamber, into the chimney (19). This furnace makes possible more uniform and more easily controllable autocombustion of waste. <IMAGE>
