<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently supply power to an external device by controlling an auxiliary power supply means supplying power to the external device based on the discrimination result of the form of reception information. CONSTITUTION:When an incoming call is made to the peripheral equipment E through a communication line 30, a line control part 9 executes a FAX reception program by the command of a control part 1. Thus, an auxiliary power control part 28 operates and power is supplied from the auxiliary power supply part 26 to a host computer HP-H through a power line 36. The control part 9 connects the line 30 to the equipment E. When the incoming call is discriminated to be FAX information, a command is outputted to HP-H through an input/ output interface 6, and the reception processing of FAX information is executed. When the incoming call is discriminated to be telephone information, the control part 28 operates and the supply of power from the auxiliary power supply part 26 to HP-H through the power line 36 is interrupted.</p> |
