In the case of the footrest, a locking bar is attached to one or two swivellable extension arms (13). The extension arms (13) are each mounted in bearing blocks and can be fixed at various swivel angles by means of ratchet locks (4, 5, 13) accommodated in the bearing blocks. When the uppermost position of the locking bar is reached, the locking mechanism (4, 5, 13) is disabled so that the locking bar can be moved back again into the lowest position. So that the footrest is of stable construction, rattle free in operation and easy and quiet to use, the extension arms (13) have at the free end run-up faces (15) and locking faces (16). In order to raise the locking bar in steps, a roller chain (4) which is tensioned by spring force (5) is arranged in the swivel path, brought about by the swivelling movement (20), of these run-up (15) and locking faces (16). In order to disengage the locking bar from the run-up faces (15) and locking faces (16), locking latches (8) are provided which can be swivelled in the extreme positions by the extension arms (13), press in the position corresponding to the uppermost position of the extension arms (13) against the roller chain (4) counter to the tensioning direction of the spring force (5) acting on them and can be braked in their swivelling movement by brake discs. <IMAGE> |
