PURPOSE:To lower the membrane resistance of a fluororesin cation exchange membrane contg. cation exchange groups such as sulfonic acid groups without lowering the cation transport number by swelling the membrane with a water miscible org. solvent and removing the solvent from the membrane, followed by treatment with hydrochloric acid.
