Biodegradable cleaning compsn. for hydrocarbon spillages - contg. mixt. of specified mono and di-phosphoric acid ester(s)

The compsn. comprises a 35%/65% mol. ratio mixts. of esters of formula R-O(A)-P(O)(OB)(OB) and R-O(A) 2= P(O)(OB). In the formulae R is a 6-20C residue of an alcohol or acid; A is either a mixt. of ethoxy and propoxy groups, the ethoxy/propoxy ratio being 2 and the number of propoxy groups being 10; or A is 1-4 ethoxy groups when R is below 12C, 1-5 ethoxy groups when R is below 16C or 1-6 ethoxy groups when R is over 16C; B is H, an alkali(ne earth) metal, an amine contg. 6-20C or organic cpds. with a high N and low C content. The mol. ratio of each ester type in the mixture is 35-65%. Compsn. is used for cleaning hydrocarbon spillages on the ground or water. The cpds. have a high biodegradability and form with water a medium enhancing the biodegradation of hydrocarbons.
