<p>New derivs. are trans-2,3-bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)bicyclo-/2.2.1/heptane of formula (I):- and its chiral enantiomers. Also new are chiral catalysts consisting of the reaction prod. of a chiral enantiomer of (I) with Rh(COD)X 2 (where X is Cl, Br or I; and COD signifies cyclooctadiene). In the prodn. of optically active 3-acyl derivs. of 1-(2-alkoxyethyl)-4-phenyl-2-imidazolidones by hydrogenation of 3-acyl derivs. of 1-(2-alkoxyethyl)-4-phenylimidazolin-2-one in the presence of a solvent, the hydrogenation is carried out in the presence of one of the above chiral catalysts. (I) and its chiral enantiomers are precursors of chiral catalysts. These are partic. useful for the prodn. of optically active 3-acyl derivs. of 1-(2-alkoxyethyl)-4-phenyl-2-imidazolidones, which in turn are useful as intermediates for optically active tetramisole.</p> |
