Starter and supply unit for discharge lamp - has integral spark-gap chamber cast from plastics at same time as housing and ventilation hole to chamber

The plastics encapsulated starter and supply unit, for discharge lamps, has the chambers enclosing its spark gaps moulded at the same time as the rest of the plastics housing. Each chamber (5) has at least one ventilation channel (11). The ventilation channels may consist of holes drilled in the previously closed chambers, or of tubes cast with the chambers or of holes made at the same time as casting takes place by using suitable conical 'pegs' in the mould. Each chamber is cylindrical and has electrodes (13, 14) projecting into it.
