Selective weed control in maize, rice or other cereals comprises treating the seeds, the soil before or after sowing, or the growing crops with a herbicide of formula (I) and an antidote (II). In the formula, n = 0 or 1; R1 = halo; R2 = H or halo; R3 = H, COR4 or CONHR5; R4 = H or opt. branched 1-10C alkyl; R5 = opt. branched 1-4C alkyl or opt. halogenated phenyl. The antidote (II) is an N-substd. dichloroacetamide; a 2,3-dibromopropionamide or haloalkyl sulphonate ester. A pref. (II) is N,N-diallyldichloroacetamide. (I) and (II) are applied simultaneously or one after the other. (II) improve selectivity of (I).
