The bristles of a paint-brush are attached to the brush handle by a special ferrule (2). The latter (2) has an oval cross-section with the bristle end turned slightly inwards in order to provide a better grip on the bristles. In addition the bore of the ferrule has a number of circumferential grooves. The other end (10) of the ferrule has an internal lip (11) with a sharp edge which fits with a snap action into the recess (14) formed on the end of the handle (12). The handle (12) which may be made from plastic or wood has two internal stiffening ribs. The ferrule (2) has external circumferential ridges to prevent the paint flowing onto the handle.
|
