A crystalline polypropylene compsn. suitable for calendering comprises a homopolymer of propylene and/or a copolymer of propylene with 25. pref. 5-17 wt.%, ethylene and also a combination of (a) 0.1-1.5 pref. 0.15-0.3 wt.% stabiliser of high efficiency; (b) 0.1-2. pref. 0.15-0.8 wt. % of a soap; and (c) 10-60, pref. 15-45 wt.% of a particulate, solid, inorganic material. Polypropylene films 0.2 mm can be obtd. No degradation occurs during calendering. The sheet may be thermoformed to produce an element for a car, a container and a lining for a cooling tower or for the treatment of effluent. The sheet may calendered onto a textile which has been opt. coated. The sheet may also be embossed. |
