<p>In the centre of the housing (20) of a profile measuring system (25) is led a cable (8). An opening (21) in the housing subtends an angle of about 80 deg. at the cable and serves for lateral adjustment of the cable's position. The cylindrical housing is rotatable on rollers (22) on a fixed frame (26). A motor (29) and drive belt (28) together with a rack and pinion arrangement (23, 29) move the housing about the cable. In the vicinity of the opening in the housing is a point light source (30) which may comprises a high-power LED. ON the inside of the housing is mounted a matrix (32) of photodiodes (33). As the housing revolves, the shadow region detected by the diodes provides an indication of the section profile of the cable.</p> |
