<p>A payphone management system having at least one payphone (1) having a plurality of operating functions (6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12). The payphone is connected via a link (3) too remote control centre (2). The control centre is connected via trunks (4) to a PSTN. According to the invention all processing and enabling of the payphone's operating functions is carried out in a processor (14) located in the control centre. The advantages of the system are that modifications to the payphones operating functions can be carried out remotely.
