PURPOSE: To reduce the power consumption to extend the time when a data broadcasting terminal is driven by a battery by stopping the operation of a data reception part in a time zone other than a minimum time required for holding of the latest data in a memory part at the time of receiving a data broadcast like a character broadcast by a portable reception terminal. CONSTITUTION: When it is a set on/off time, a timer part informs a data reception operation control part 108 and a memory operation control part 109. The data reception operation control part 108, the memory operation control part 109, and a display operation control part 110 control the power of a data reception part 101, a memory part 102, and a display control part 105 respectively in accordance with the report from the timer part 106 and the switch state. When the data reception part 101 and the memory part 102 are operated, data reception is possible; and when the memory part 102 and the display control part 105 are operated, a user can display news. |
