<p>A SCARIFIER FOR USE WITH ASPHALT CONCRETE ROADWAY REFINISHING APPARATUS The embodiment of the invention disclosed herein is directed to a scarifier assembly for use with an asphalt concrete roadway refinisher. The scarifier has a support frame for movement in a given direction over the road surface being refinished, and the plurality of scarifing blades secured to the support frame for selective upward and downward movement to engage the road surface when in the down position during the scarifing operation for digging up and excavating the road surface after it is heated with radiant heat energy. The scarifier assembly is urged against the heated road surface by the air bags which force the scarifing blades deep into the asphalt pavement. The scarifing blades are secured by shear pin means which can be easily replaced when necessary.</p> |
