摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To modulate amplitude by a single channel, and simultaneously to transmit an HDTV signal by introducing a pair of luminance signals and a pair of chromaticity signals from a first television signal, time-extending each of both signals, and quadrature modulating each signal by first and second sub-carrier waves. CONSTITUTION: For example, a chromaticity component 6 is time-extended only by a factor 24/5 by an extending means 13. A luminance component 8 is time-extended only by a factor 24/5 by an extending means 16. Time-extended luminance components 8 and 9 are quadrature modulated by sub-carrier waves fc3 and 92 by a quadrature modulating means 22. Time-extended chromaticity components 6 and 7 are quadrature modulated by sub-carrier waves fc2 and 91. Band-pass filters 23, 24, and 25 are positioned at the outputs of quadrature modulating means 20, 21, and 22, and unnecessary side wave bands can be eliminated by quadrature modulated sub-carrier waves fc1, fc2, and fc3.</p>
