The wheels of an aircraft (1) undercarriage are fitted with a number of cone-shaped pockets (4) with the axis of the cone arranged tangentially. The open end (5) of one cone faces the apex of the adjoining cone. The cones are so arranged that when the wheel is in the landing position the slip stream of the aircraft blow into the pockets and rotates the wheel. When the aircraft touches down the wheels ae rotating at the correct speed, so that there is no skidding on contact with the runaway.
