VP/VC HANDLING ATM DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To share a VP/VC handling ATM device with a VP handling device so as to facilitate mutual transfer by constituting a VC layer processing function in a repeating side processing part as an independent circuit and exchanging only the repeating processing part in the VP/VC handling ATM device. SOLUTION: The repeating side processing part 6 is provided with a physical layer processing function and a VP/VC layer cell processing function independent of other parts. The P/VC handling ATM device 1 executes physical/VP layer processings on cells from a terminal 10 in a subscriber side processing part 4 and a cell exchange processing part 5, sends them to the repeating processing part 6, executes the processing of a physical layer, a VP layer and a VCL layer and sends them to the CP/VC handling ATM device 11 of a next stage. The repeating side processing part 6 executes the physical layer/VP layer/VC layer processings on the cells sent from the ATM device 11 and transmits them to the terminal 10 through the cell exchange processing part 5 and the subscriber side processing part 4.
