alpha-Olefins are (co)polymsd. on catalysts contg. a solid inorg. support, on which an organophosphoryl chromium cpd. has been deposited, followed by heating in a dry O2-contg. atmos. at >204 degrees C but below the temp. at which the support is damaged. The polyolefins are esp. suitable for prodn. of hollow articles, e.g. bottles, by blowing. The organophosphoryl Cr cpd. (I) is prepd. by reacting 1 mole CrO3 with about 1 mole of an organo P cpd., esp. a phosphate or phosphite, more esp. a trialkyl phosphate and pref. triethyl phosphate, in an inert solvent, e.g. (cyclo)hexane or CCl4. I has formula where X is P(OR)3 or PH(OR)2 in which R is H, (cyclo)alkyl, aryl or aralkyl and is not 1 R is not H; pref., X is P(Or)3 and R is alkyl. The pref. carrier is a SiO2 xerogel. |
