<p>The manhole cover (1) closes on the rim (3) which is fitted to the hinge (4). Locating lugs (9) are mounted on the side of the rim. The top of the manhole cover has a bar (5) welded to it at the centre. The end of the bar is connected to a latch at the pivot point (7). The latch is made up of two bars (8, 10) which are joined in a V-shape. The latter fits over the corner of the lug, (12) fixed to the rim, by bowing the top member (5). The cover is opened by pressing on the bar (10).</p> |
