Photoelectrically read data tape - comprises laminate made of transparent plastics substrate and peelable opaque paper

A tape medium for data storage is designed to be read by a photoelectric system. The tape comprises a laminate of transparent plastics substrate (2) superposed by a thin film of self shaving adhesive and an opaque paper strip(1). Data is recorded on the tape by varying the location of a longitudinal cut(5) in the paper strip(1). Removal of one side of the strip(4) by peeling renders the tape readable by an opto electric scanner using transmitted light.
