Strings are produced by impregnating a tow consisting of parallel synthetic or natural multifils with a thermosetting adhesive, which after setting shows the required elasticity subjecting the adhesive to a preliminary polymerisation until the required degree of polymerisation has been obtd.; imparting a twist to the strong whilst preventing the adhesive from exuding from the filaments due to the prepolymerisation; and completing the polymerisation. The strings are suitable for musical instruments and sports racquets, or bow strings. They have all the properties of gut strings.
