In a paintball gun the gas charge used to propel the paintball is vented through a bolt. It is common practice to vent the gas in a direction parallel to the direction of trav el through one or more holes. In this invention, the bolt instead vents the gas charge through multiple holes at an angle about the centerline. This bolt with the vents arranged in a spiral pattern would induce a spin about the axis of the paintball's direction of travel. This resulting longitudinal rotation would then increase the paintball gun's consistency and accuracy. This would be even more effective in a paintball gun w ith a rifled barrel because witha conventional bolt the ball will not start to spin until a distance down the barrel due to it's inertia. The spiral ported bolt would induce a spin from the start.
