<p>1404631 Filter element NOEL MARQUET & CIE SA 2 Nov 1972 [9 Nov 1971] 50489/72 Headings BID and BIT A filter element for air or liquids comprises a sheet 2 of porous filter material held under tension in frame 1 of plastics material which has been applied to the filter material when in a flowable state so that it penetrates through the filter material and, when set, forms an airtight mass. The frame and filter material are further interconnected by longitudinal and transverse struts of plastics material which similarly penetrate through the filter material. The filter material is extended 6 past the frame to form a seal between the element and the support 14 or 16 in which it is to be mounted. This extension of filter material may be used, in addition to flexibly connect a series of consequetive framed filter elements formed on a web of filter material (Fig 6, not shown). The filter material may be in the form of a flat sheet or have the form of at least part of a cube, sphere, cone, truncated cone or cylinder provided with a frame adjacent the or each edge. The filter material used may be flexible, e.g. fleeces, cloths, braided or woven metal threads or plastics foam or may be rigid, e.g. perforated metal or gauzes. The plastics frame may be flexible or rigid, thermoplastics foam material being preferred. The frame may be internally strengthened by non-plastics strengtheners, e.g. wire. Several sheets of filter material may be clamped together in one frame as shown in Figures 1 and 2.</p> |
