DIETHYL HYDROXYMETHYLPHOSPHONATE ESTERS, THEIR PREPARATION AND USE

Novel diesters of diethyl hydroxymethylphosphonate of the formula: in which R1 and R4 are alkylene radicals -(CH2)m- in which m is 0 or an integer, R2 and R3 are H or alkyl radicals, the total number of carbon atoms in R1, R2, R3 and R4 being not more than 10, are described. These diesters are valuable flameproofing agents for rigid and flexible polyurethane foams and for thermoplastic polyolefin and polyester foams.
