PROCESS FOR PREPARING 6-AMINOPENICILLANIC ACID, 7-AMINOCEPHALOSPORANIC ACID AND DERIVATIVES

It is known to hydrolyze, using protective groups, under strictly controlled reaction conditions the acylamino groups of -6 or -7 substituted penicillins or cephalosporins, respectively. However due to the reactive nature of these substances, generally the yields are low. Further more the protective groups are costly. Thus this the known reactions are unsuitable for industrial processes. The present invention over comes this problem by providing a novel process for the hydrolysis of -6 or -7 substituted penicillins, cephalosporins and -3 substituted cephalosporins where in the protective group is an oxalyl halide, which substances are commercially available at a low price and not dangerous to handle.
