The setting device is moved from an initial position into a setting position, with the frequency of the signals supplied by the setting circuit dependent on the amount of movement of the setting device from its initial position. These setting signals are supplied to the counter circuit of the watch for correcting the counter contents. Pref. a reversible counter receives the setting signals and is indexed in the forwards or backwards direction in dependence on the position of the setting device, e.g. clockwise or anti-clockwise rotation of the manual setting stem.
