COLLAPSIBLE CONTAINER STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME A collapsible dispensing container is disclosed comprising a tubular body of deformable material including a layer of plastic, and a two piece head assembly. The first head member includes a dispensing nozzle and a radial skirt received in one end of the tubular body. The second head member is a ring interengageable with the skirt by means of a recess in the skirt and a cooperable projection on the ring. The one end of the tubular body is heated and folded inwardly so as to be received in the recess, and the ring is then applied for the projection and recess to clampingly interengage the material therebetween to mount the head assembly on the tube. Opposed surfaces of the projection and recess are dimensioned to cause the plastic layer to flow and fill voids between the head members to provide an air tight seal between the head and body. Preferably, the tubular body is of laminated construction including a barrier layer of metal foil and an inner layer of an epoxy resin. |
