PURPOSE:To prevent a sudden boost in engine speed from occurring by engaging the release side as far as a specified ratio if input shaft revolution lifting speed is large enough in a range from the release of a release side frictional engaging element to an engaging start at the engaged side when engine driving force is small. CONSTITUTION:An electronic control means CPU, changing the engagement or nonengagement of clutches C0 - C2 and brakes B0 - B2 of an automatic transmission, controls each of corresponding controlling solenoid valves 41 - 45 so as to engage the release side as far as the specified ratio if input shaft revolution lifting speed of the automatic transmission being calculated from a signal of a turbine speed sensor 24 is large in a range from after release at the release side to an engaging start at the engaged side when a signal of a throttle sensor, namely, engine driving force is small at time of speed changing. On the other hand, if the engine driving force is small and the input shaft revolution lifting speed is large, a span of time ranging from a shift judgment at time of the next time speed change to a release indication at the release side is extended. Thus, any blowup of an engine and a gear shift shock can be retrained from occurring. |
